Now I don’t mean to come across as trivial or nit-picky, but we’re big in design, especially typography and branding.

Well, part of the brand of ORANGEHAT is the name. I wanted to develop a naming style that wasn’t tied to a specific typeface, but still contrast when being used in typical body copy and fonts. As you can see whenever I type our company name, it’s all caps, and one word, and that’s how we prefer it: ORANGEHAT, not Orange Hat. We understand that some systems may not allow all caps, so Orangehat, orangehat are acceptable ways to handle our name.

It’s a little pet peeve of mine, and hopefully putting it out there for all the internet to see will help ease any future improper uses. It’s the little things like this that help establish and cement brands. All for the greater good of {making things pretty}

Yes, we have a portfolio page to show off all of our work, but we think larger projects should get a mention here in the blog too. Plus there’s no rules that say we can’t do that (it is our site, so we can make the rules). About two weeks ago, we wrapped up our latest website design & development project for a Condo Association in Ocean City, MD.

For The Island at Hidden Harbour, ORANGEHAT coordinated transferring the domain, setting up the new sever, along with our a complete site redesign and development. The new site now sports a custom blog system, photo gallery and classifieds. But the main highlight of the site, is something you’ll never see – a custom Admin section. The Association wanted to be able to update their content on their own, and ORANGEHAT was happy to oblige. 95% of the content is available for them to update and customize. We created the look and design, along with all code – from scratch, because, well, that’s what we do.

They also got an early release of File’s Up! Which we plan on having more info on that project in the near future. More on that later.

Very happy with our latest project, and we look forward to the next!

Here at ORANGEHAT are big Mac fans. We have a slew of Apple’s hardware and software and are keen on staying up-to-date with all our equipment for fun and for efficiency. Our most recent purchase was an iMac earlier this year, with only 1GB or RAM. While we love Apple, we don’t love how much they charge for RAM upgrades. Late last week, I spy’d a deal on 4GB of Crucial RAM, and couldn’t pass on it.

So long is the days of 1GB, and I’m now rocking two 2GB sticks for 4GB total. So where I thought the iMac was fast before, it’s even faster now! It’s all in an effort to constantly make us faster and more efficient to meet design needs, or just to surf this world web interweb.
